A Disappointing Dream Holiday - And What It Taught Me About NLP
Is it worth expanding your skills?
It’s a question I get asked often - usually by people who are sitting on the fence. They’re curious, tempted even, but hesitant. What if it’s a waste of time? What if they don’t use it? Or worse… what if they invest and then find out it didn’t change a thing?
Let me give you the most honest answer I can.
The Two Halves of the World - And Why I Chose the ‘Crazy’ Side
When I first got into NLP, we were living in a world of contradiction. One-half of society was still chanting “suck it up” with a stiff upper lip. The other half - the quieter, “crazier” half - had started asking bigger, deeper questions.
They wanted to understand their own emotions. They were hungry for meaning, connection, and better relationships - with others and with themselves. I chose to follow the so-called “crazy” crowd. And I have never been disappointed.
Because what I discovered wasn’t just emotional intelligence - it was emotional power.
🧠 “Most people experience true connection once a year, if they’re lucky. But what if you could feel it every day?”
The Magic of Training That Transforms You (Even When It's Exhausting)
I remember one particular moment during my NLP Practitioner training. I was utterly exhausted. Mentally, emotionally - drained. But I also felt blissful. For the first time, I felt like I finally understood life.
The people around me - behind me, beside me, in front of me - we were all in it together. Strangers became friends. Friends became lifelines. And many of them are still part of my world today.
It reminded me of a story I heard - maybe from Rangan Chatterjee - about a 1990s Oasis concert where 100,000 people sang Champagne Supernova together. A unified, peaceful moment.
That sense of unity, of deep belonging and connection? Most people only get that feeling once a year, if they’re lucky.
But my training gave me that - again and again - in everyday life.
And that’s what I want for you, too.
When Your Skills Shape Your State - Even on Holiday
I asked my cousin recently how his holiday had been. It was a long one - two weeks of pure relaxation. Or so I thought. But his answer surprised me.
He said it was “alright.” Flat. Unmemorable. Not because anything went wrong - but because he’d stopped using his NLP tools.
During his usual workday, those techniques kept him energised, focused and resilient. But on holiday, he wasn’t coaching anyone - so he didn’t use them.
And he realised something powerful. NLP wasn’t just helping his clients - it was holding him together too.
“You can’t teach these tools without using them on yourself. And when you stop using them - you feel it.”
Why a Coaching Franchise Isn’t Just a Career Move - It’s a Life Shift
This is why I believe in what we do so deeply. Our coaching franchise isn’t just about creating a new income stream or becoming your own boss (though those are great bonuses).
It’s about transforming who you are and how you experience the world - every single day.
From our NLP Practitioner training to our master courses, and our brand-new workplace mental health subscription - every product and programme we create is designed to elevate mindset, build emotional strength, and reconnect people to themselves and others.
And that’s what makes People Building more than just a business. It’s a movement - one built by those of us who dared to be “crazy” enough to care.
So, if you’re asking yourself, “Is it worth expanding my skills?” - you already know the answer.
Say yes. Say yes to the mindset shift, the emotional upgrade, the deep connections and a coaching franchise that supports you for life.
